Charlwood applied his prior experience from the tourism industry, and franchising success in Real Estate into developing one of the largest Travel Management Companies in the world.
Charlwood wanted to allow agents to develop strong networks with each other, and further connect the world globally. He wanted to do all this while building local, personalized relationships with travelers.
UNIGLOBE Travel International opened its doors in 1979. The first franchise following shortly after in 1981. Through the 80’s more offices opened across North America, spreading into Europe in the 1990’s and grew to the global scale that UNIGLOBE is known for today.
Today, UNIGLOBE travel management companies (TMCs) and Global Partners serve small-to-mid-size corporate accounts and vacation travelers in more than 60 countries, with annual system-wide sales of approximately $5 billion.
